Internal Rotary Inspection System (IRIS)

IRIS is an ultrasonic technique used to inspect tubes from the internal diameter. Water is used to flood the tubes and acts as a couplant to allow the ultrasonic wave to propagate into the material.

Uses for IRIS Inspection

IRIS is a very high resolution technique with a high degree of accuracy. For carbon steel and other tube materials, IRIS is the ideal choice.

Because it’s an ultrasonic technique the tubes require a very high level of cleaning, as well as needing to be flooded with water to allow the wave to propagate into the material.

Typically IRIS is the go to choice for heat exchangers with tubing.
