Introducing the Innovative TRITON Multi-Channel NDT System

A unique package which combines into one simple, efficient and accurate system:

  • Remote Field Electromagnetic Technique (RFET)
  • Balanced Field Electromagnetic Technique (BFET)
  • Low Frequency Electromagnetic Testing (LFET)
Triton

Remote Field Electromagnetic Technique (RFET)

Locate tube defects in heat exchangers or drum to drum boilers. The Multichannel NDT System detects and quantifies corrosion, erosion, pitting, cracking, and mechanical defects to prevent costly and dangerous failures. It can test straight and U-bend tubes, ferrous or non-ferrous tubes and small diameter pipes.

The system can be used in single channel mode or multi-channel mode depending upon the type of inspection required. A full 100% circumferential test is performed from tubesheet to tubesheet, not just at finite points, as with some other NDT methods. The system can be used to test virtually any tube constructed type of process equipment such as: boilers, heat exchangers, air coolers/fin fans, air heaters etc. The system is also capable of testing small diameter process piping and can provide baseline evaluations of new or stock tubes. The TRITON RFET not only detects flaws in such tubes, but also quantifies and characterizes them.

Balanced Field Electromagnetic Technique (BFET)

For the detection of both surface and sub-surface cracks in welds and base metals. Probes can be created to fit almost any application. Curved, flat, or welded surfaces can be quickly evaluated even through paints and coatings. This system is based on the eddy current principles of electromagnetic techniques and replaces the older and more intensive techniques such as vacuum box, dye penetrant, and mag particle inspection.

Unlike UT, the system does not demand a clean surface and is forgiving to scale and corrosion. With scanning speeds up to 1 ft. /second, the system is fast, accurate, and efficient for the detection of cracks. With a task specific calibration standard the system can be used to size the cracks.

Low Frequency Electromagnetic Technique (LFET)

For testing waterwalls, superheaters/reheaters/economizers and other tubing/piping.

This element of the system scans most any boiler tube and process piping from the O.D. It detects and quantifies I.D., O.D., and internal material defects in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The system uses a dry non-contact method based on the principles of Electromagnetics. It is forgiving to uniform surface scale and tests at a scanning speed of 10 to 15 ft. (3 to 4.5m) per minute. The system is fast, accurate, cost effective, and well proven. Most importantly, the system can be adapted to many different applications such as testing ligaments, bends, space constricted areas and small diameter tubing, etc. For further technical information, or an on-site demonstration please ask.
